Weekend recap Soccer & Seuss

We had two soccer games on Saturday and two games on Sunday.  Both of the girls had one each day.

All the pictures are still on my camera.  I have not had time to upload and edit them.  There are a lot!  I was able to see three games and took pictures at those three games. 

Jay took McKenzie to her Redmond game on Saturday.  Both girls played at 1pm in different cities, so I couldn't watch them both.  McKenzie had an awesome game!  They won 4-1.

Alex's team also did well.  They won 1-0 with an own goal.  They dominated most of the game but had trouble getting it in the net.  It was rainy and windy and the wind tried hard to move the ball around.  They had a shot on goal and the goalie blocked it, but then she dropped the ball and accidentally kicked it back into the goal.  

Saturday night after soccer we came home and had some dinner and warm showers to warm up.  The girls were pretty drenched from all the rain.  We were going to just stay home and watch a movie and relax, but Ferndale High School was putting on their yearly play.  This year it is Seussical the Musical.  

So. Much. FUN!!  There was not any seating left when we got there.  People actually had to leave because even with the extra chairs there was not enough places to sit.  Alex had some friends save her a seat, so she got to sit down.  McKenzie and I stood on the edge near the back.  There was a single seat right next to us and one next to that with a reserved sign on it.  I was telling McKenzie that she could sit in the empty seat and I would just stand next to her, when an usher came up to us and asked if  we needed seats.  I asked if they had two that were together, and he took off the reserved sign and let us sit right there!  It was in the way back, but we got to sit in seats next to each other. :)

The picture is taken with my phone from our way back seats, but it was so colorful and bright I had to take a picture.  They are also playing it next week, (Thurs, Fri, & Sat) and I highly recommend it!  I LOVE Dr. Seuss and the Ferndale Drama always does a fantabulous job with their productions! 

Sunday, was more soccer.  McKenzie and I left at 6am for Federal Way for her 10am game.  Well fought and well played.  They were a pretty aggressive team and fought just as hard.  We ended up with a tie 1-1.  After the game we made a quick pit stop to Subway for lunch and headed back up to watch Alex in her 2 pm game.  We made it with 30 min to spare!  

Alex played a great game.  They ended up losing 2-0.  In the first half, one of our players had a handball in the box and got a red card. :(  It was not intentional, but the rules say any hand balls in the box are red carded.  She had to leave the field and was not allowed to play the rest of the game.  We also had to play one player down, because we were not allowed to replace her.  They got a PK and our goalie made an AMAZING save and block the ball from going in!  We played very hard, but between being down a player and having only one sub (because of injuries & sickness) we just were not able to get it in the net.  They played great and are so much fun to watch!

We are now home and getting ready for our week.  Finishing homework, working on papers, eating dinner, and just relaxing.

Friday flowers

Yesterday (Friday) when I took the girls to school, it was like SPRING!!  It was warm out, the birds were singing, the frogs were croaking, and I looked into my garden and saw these little flowers! :)

My garden needs a little bit of work,but just last week, this was all covered in snow!  I am excited for a little bit warmer weather so I can go work in my yard.  (and yes, I know the weeds are taller than the plants!)

 Last night, Alyssa asked if I could watch the kids for a bit.  Her and Richard wanted to go out.  We went to indoor soccer (Alex had a game) and then went back to their house.  The boys love Mac!  She was sitting on the couch and Ryan climbed on her back, then Aiden climbed on Ryan's back.  They thought is was great when she stood up with them both on her back!

Then it was Ryan's turn to give piggybacks.  He stood up and told Mac, "Get on my back now".

This weekend we have four soccer games.  Saturday, McKenzie is going to Redmond with Jay and Sunday I am taking her to Federal Way.  Alex has home games both Saturday & Sunday.

Off to get ready and packed for soccer!  

Thankful Thursday

First, I am very thankful that this snow is all gone! :)

I love to watch the snow fall.  I love to see all the trees covered in fresh snow. I love how quiet and peaceful the snow is.  I don't love driving in it.  I love how everything looks clean and new and fresh.

We also had some very cool icicles on our house.   They got pretty long.  I was very thankful they didn't fall and hurt us! (Actually, Alex was playing with one and it did break and fall on her cheek.  It didn't hurt too bad! )

We had so much snow!  I am very thankful that we have green grass again.  

I am also very thankful that my foot is not broken.  I am thankful I can wear tennis shoes again (even though they are very loose! :))  I am thankful that most of the bruising and swelling is gone.

Wednesday

Happy Wednesday.  We have made it through the first half of the week!  Just a couple more days to go before the weekend, which to me means: 4 soccer games, 3 cities, 2 days, 1 CrAzY mom! :)

These pictures are from Saturday, Feb 22, 2014.  The first of our snow.  We woke up to some snow, but it was just a bit.  We went to our game at Lummi, where it was raining.  No, McKenzie is not carrying a bag of garbage! It is her Ranger soccer bag.  When it rains, there is usually a mom there with garbage bags to put their Ranger bags in to keep their stuff a little bit dry.  I usually keep garbage bags in my car just for that. :)  

Here is an action shot of McKenzie taking the ball away from their forward!  Off she goes to pass it to a midfielder, hopefully who will pass it to a forward, who should then get a goal!  That is how it is supposed to work.  It doesn't always happen, actually, this season, it very rarely happens.  However, she is doing really good and still loves the game!

The only thing that upset her about the two games this weekend, was that there was not any snow on the fields.  She really wanted to play in the snow.  Really bad.  She was also upset this last weekend when our Spokane trip was postponed because of snow. She really, really, really, really wanted to play in the snow.

My compromise?  I will take her pictures in the snow! She was happy with that.

We just took a few in the front yard.  It was pretty cold and windy so we didn't stay out too long.

This is going to be a crazy, busy week...

I can already tell that this week is going to be insane!  The girls are winding down there "Spring" soccer season and getting ready for State Cup.  Alex is almost done with volleyball.

This is what our yard looked like yesterday.  Today most of it is gone with just a few small patches where the snow was piled pretty high.  It is nice to see green grass again! :)

I got the soccer schedules for the girls on Sunday night and Alex told me yesterday about a make-up volleyball game (from the snow) that is scheduled for tomorrow.  We are also making up some soccer games because of the snow also.  Between all of the regular soccer/volleyball & the make-up games, I am busy driving all over the place every night this week!  None of the girls schedules coordinate, so I have one at soccer and the other is at home, next night it is reversed.  I see a lot of crock pot meals in my future this week!  

I can handle anything for a week!  I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.  Next week will be a lot calmer! 

Sunday soccer & ice storm

This is what I woke up to this morning.  Ice. Ice on the sidewalk.  Ice on the road. Ice on my car. Ice falling from the sky. Ice everywhere!  We had a soccer game in Shoreline this afternoon and when I woke up to this, I wasn't sure if we would make it out of our driveway, let alone all the way down there.

See!  I even had icicles on my car!  After calling around to some of the other soccer parents, to check roads in their area (they were mostly all fine), we made the decision to go for it!  I started the car, turned up the defrost, and started chiping away at the ice.  It took about 20 min to get all the ice of the windows and the wiper blades.  We left and picked up another player, filled up with gas, and we were off!

So much ice!

After getting down our hill, the roads were fine.  There was some slush in Ferndale & Bellingham, but the rest of the way was RAIN.  Lots of rain. Pouring rain.  Drizzly rain. The girls played in the rain.

The girls played hard.  The other team was fast and physical.  We had to fight hard each time we won the ball.  We had to fight hard to get the ball back each time we lost it.  I am pretty impressed with them today.  Unfortunately, we lost 3-1.

The fun news is that because it was raining out, I was able to use my new camera raincover!  I have a hard time taking pictures in the rain, because I don't want to get my camera wet.  It is hard to hold an umbrella & a camera in the rain and wind.  So today, I just used the camera raincover (it is a special shaped plastic bag that fits over your camera.  It has a hole for the eyepiece and a drawstring for the lens).  It worked great!  I am excited to see how the pictures turned out.  The only downfall is that because the plastic is covering the camera, it is hard to see the picture you just took,  I like to look at them to see if I need to delete, or adjust.

It was a long, fun day of soccer, pictures and friends.  Off to bed to get ready for a new week!

The snow is back

Happy March!  

There is a saying about March,  In like a lion, out like a lamb!

This is definitely in like a lion!!  It is snowing again!  On top of the snow that didn't melt from last time.  

We just got home from soccer and the drive was fine.  Everett was a little yucky with a rain/snow mix, but it wasn't terrible.  South Bellingham all the way to the Smith Rd was TERRIBLE!!!  Lots of slickery roads and snow coming down by the tons! :)  There were about 3-4 cars in the ditches with police officers helping them just in one little area by the mall.  Traffic was going about 35mph except for a few crazies that thought it was fine to go 60...  Ferndale was fine down low, but on the way up my hill it started getting lots of snow.  I would say we had about an inch or so, but it has not stopped yet, and it is not going to for awhile.

McKenzie is bringing all of her stuff inside from our LONG soccer day.  All of that lovely snow in the background.

We left this morning about 6:40 to meet up with a couple other Ferndale players/parents to caravan down to the game today.  We left at 7 to go catch the 8:40 ferry to Bremerton this morning.  We made the ferry in plenty of time and had no issues with traffic.  We got to the game plenty early.  The weather was not bad.  It was about 45* with a slight misty rain.  Not bad at all.  The girls played very well.  First half ended in a 1-1 tie and we played very well.  Second half, we struggled a bit and they lost 3-1.  They still played really well and made some great plays.  Our goalie played very well also, making some fantastic saves from the many corner kicks the other team had.

After the game we had a team lunch with some of the team and then headed back onto the ferry.  We got out of our cars on the ferry and went up top.  Looking down in the water, we saw two cute little sea otters. They are hard to see, but they are right by the chain in the picture.  There are two of them hanging out.  They were fun to watch!

We headed north to home and arrived safely! :)  So very glad that Spokane was cancelled and we just have two "local" games this weekend!  Tomorrow morning, we are off to Shoreline to watch some more soccer!  Weather permitting! ;)
