I am excited for...

Alexandra at soccer. This is the first game that the earwarmers and gloves came out. The sun was still shining, and the wind was out, but it was pretty cold.

1) 6:00 tonight!!!!! It is Chinese food and I am sooo excited! Good food, good company, no kids :)

Alexandra and her team tied this game. It was 0 to 0! Good game!

2) It is Wednesday and that is closer to Friday than Monday is! :)

How cute is McKenzie!

3) The weather is still nice out. Cold, but we still have sort of warmer afternoons. It is not a yucky, rainy, winter yet.

McKenzie gives her coach a high five after every goal she makes! It is a tradition that they have done since her first goal in kindergarten. They are the only ones that still do it.
4) There are only 79 days until Christmas!!! Have you started (finished) your shopping yet?? :)
Have a great Wednesday! I know I will :)

Monday Ramblings

It is Monday again. It comes every week at the same time, and each week it takes me by surprise. It is the first day of the work week. For me it is just another work day. I am making progress with cutting back on my workload. My problem is I love something about all of my jobs and I don't know what one to cut back on or cut out. Somedays it is very easy to pick. Other days....not so easy.

Daycare:
kids screaming and crying, pushing, teething....easy decision....quit daycare
laughing, playing together, learning a new skill, snuggling....harder decision...want to keep doing it.

Launching Success:
crabby customers, screaming kids, difficult day...easy decision...quit
happy customers, lots of work done, doing what I enjoy...harder decision...I love getting out of the house and working for someone else.

Daycare versus Store:
If I do daycare, then I am available for my own children and I don't have to find daycare for them afterschool and on weekends.
I make more money doing daycare than I do at the Store.
I love getting out of the house and working for somebody else.

Maybe the answer is something else altogether....quit everything and find a different job...or go enjoy my HUGE box of chocolate covered almonds and not think about it anymore!

Any body up for Chinese?....on Wednesday?...at 6:00?....I'll pick you up!

Have a great Monday!

41 to 7!!!

WOW! That is about all I have to say about the game tonight! It was a good game. It was Ferndale against Squalicum. Ferndale has not been doing very well lately, Squalicum has been doing awesome!! We sat on the Squalicum side, intending to cheer on Tyler Cole and the rest of the Squalicum team. We did cheer for them, but McKenzie and I very quietly (we were, after all, surrounded by alot of Squalicum people) cheered for Ferndale when they made a good play. Squalicum scored the first touchdown. Ferndale scored the next SIX touchdowns. After the game, we went to say hi to Tyler. He was not very happy. We told him he played a great game (which he did. He made some pretty good tackles) and then we quietly left. I would like to see him play again in a different game, where they could win and then he would be happy.

We had a fun time anyway. It is now way past bedtime. I think tomorrow is Sunday...but with them playing Friday Night Football on a Saturday night....I am a little thrown off. It is still time for bed. I will report more tomorrow on McKenzie and Alexandra's soccer games.

Good Night! Have a great day!

Alexandra says...

"by the way, did you think about what snickerdoodles means? "snicker" means laughing and "doodle" means fool. So really, my favorite cookie is a laughing fool!"

This girl cracks me up! Each week at school they have to write in their journal and bring it home for the parents to read. They are supposed to write about their week at school or other things that they are thinking about. A couple of weeks ago, in their homework, they read about the poem Yankee Doodle and what it meant. It said that Yankee was an American and Doodle was a fool. She remembered that...two weeks later...and applied it to her favorite cookie! I will never look at a snickerdoodle in the same way again. She is a crazy girl! And I love her to pieces!!!

My Quilt

This is the quilt I won. It was a raffle to raise money for the boys and girls club. They sold over 1,000 tickets and I won with number #235!!! It is a HUGE quilt! They said it fits a king size bed. I have a queen, so I will have room left over! Lots of room....lots and lots of room! This picture is just a very small sample of the quilt. It is soooo beautiful. It is also pretty heavy. It will keep me very warm this winter. (The black part in the bottom of the picture is our cat, Four, checking it out.)
I saw this quilt hanging on the wall in the Ferndale Senior Center and bought tickets for it. A few months later, at the Old Settlers Picnic at Pioneer Park, it was hanging right outside the entrance....so I bought another ticket! Later that evening, they anounced the winner....and it was ME!!! I was (still am!) sooo happy!

Happy October!

I can't believe it is October! September just flew by in a haze of glorious, beautiful weather (except for the last couple days!) School has gotten off to a great start.
Alyssa should be getting her 6 week grades in a couple of weeks. She has been keeping up on her work and doing a great job.
Alexandra is loving 4th grade. She loves her teacher, Mrs. VanVleck. She is super excited about Aiming High. This year it is architecture and they get to go on walking field trips around Ferndale and check out the different ways the buildings are built.
McKenzie is also doing much better in her class. She is just a little teary eyed in the morning, but it doesn't last long. She loves her teacher and is very excited about the stuff they are learning, she just doesn't want me to go.
Have a great Thursday, October 1st!

Alyssa took my camera

and look what she took with it. She walked around the neighborhood taking pictures for photo class. She is doing really good. She took over one hundred pictures, but I just picked a couple of my favorites. Enjoy!

Do you see the bee on the flower?

She has to take pictures and do a report on them. She thinks she is doing flowers or trees or butterflies. I liked the flower pictures best.
